BOPF Transient Attributes

I have one question though that I am not able to figure out; probably I can get some thoughtful insights. In regards to BOPF, SAP provided transient attributes don’t get persisted to the database rather they are volatile in nature that get loaded into the context during the run-time; the BOPF framework takes care of this loading and syncing. But the question that baffles me if they are not stored at the DB level; how are they getting retrieved? Are they loaded from the buffer? What is the high-level mechanism that is working behind the scenes? Thanks. Regards, Tanmoy
